Julie Griffin, MSW, LCSW
My name is Julie Griffin, MSW, LCSW and I am a therapist at McCoy Counseling Center. I received my undergraduate and Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University. I worked for Hospice of Southern Kentucky and completed two internships during that time. While working at Hospice, I worked with terminally ill patients as well as their families. At Hospice, I provided bereavement services for caregivers after the loss of their loved one by conducting grief classes, a monthly support group and life transition classes for older adults living in assisted living facilities. For the last two years I have also worked at Senior Perspectives, an organization that provides mental health services for older adults, providing group therapy to individuals experiencing anxiety and depression.Through the years I have been active in my community serving on the Board of Directors at Life Skills, Inc., Boys and Girls Club and event chairperson for Relay for Life. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Steps for Samuel to raise awareness and healing for pregnancy and infant loss. I am a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute, a member of the National Association for Social Workers (NASW), and adhere to the Association’s Code of Ethics.Through this experience I have been able to work with individuals in a variety of life stages and gain experience with various types of loss.
